About the area
Fratte Rosa is a small town in the province of Pesaro-Urbino. Located exactly in the middle of the province, it lets you enjoy both cities of art as Urbino - The Cradle of Reinassance - and popular beach resorts as Pesaro and Fano.
The town of Fratte Rosa is best known for the unique terracotta ceramics. Known locally as "cocci", these articles include utensils, coockware and containers for regular domestic use. You can enjoy a proper terracotta and dried clay itinerary, starting from the impressive, round-walled, 14th century Well of Malatesta, throughout the whole village, spotted with places to visit and terracotta works to admire.
Fratte Rosa is well known also for its thriving agriculture and delicious food and wine specialties. A few years ago the town was awarded the status of "typical Marche food production area", largely on the basis of the Fratte Rosa broad bean, a unique variety and a typical regional product.
Glazed biscuits are another traditional delicacy and are officially recognised as a "typical local product". They are coated in a special glaze and are generally served along with the local sour cherry liqueur wine, named "visciolato".
Fratte Rosa is a small town, incredibly with plenty of things to do and see, but it is also a good place to relax and fully enjoy La Dolce Vita.
