Marble: tips for a perfect use

Marble is a natural material often used in the finishing of houses. Here are the main reasons:

It looks beautiful
– It’s resistant
– It lasts for a very long time
– It increases the value of a house

It can be used in several rooms and for different purposes: as a floor, in the bathroom as a sink, in the dining room as a table or in the kitchen as resistant and pratical tops to prepare food.

Marble is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of calcium carbonate.

The term “marble” comes from Greek μάρμαρον (mármaron) or μάρμαρος (mármaros), meaning “shiny rock”, because the low index of refraction of calcite allows light to penetrate into the surface before being reflected, giving marble its characteristic brightness.

There are several kinds of marble available on the market all in different colours and textures.

The place in a house where marble is most used is probably the kitchen, thanks to its resistance and ease of cleaning. Nowadays marbles which are supposed to be used in a kitchen as a working surface are treated with special procedures, that allow marble to better withstand high temperatures and stains.

How cleaning marble?

We recommend to use a non-abrasive sponge and a solution of water and white vinegar.

If it’s very dirty, you can moisten the part to be cleaned with water and then clean after about twenty minutes.

Marble is an indestructible material, so choose the texture and colour you like most, and carefully decide where you’d like to have it, because it will probably stay with you for the rest of your life!
